Before starting this we need to know what is torrent and for what we use torrent
Its a peer to peer protocol, not required any central server, its a distributed network.
When you download a torrent file using any torrent application then you or your device become a participant to that network and data can be uploaded or download for that file that you going to download.
Torrent can be downloaded either using magnetic link or .torrent extension file.
A torrent or megnetic link just a meta data about a file that can be used by Torrent app to download the file.
A megnetic link directly start your torrent application and file added in it if you have a torrent application.
Here i will show you step by step how to use torrent to download files. you can use torrent on your mobile phone and computer desktop/laptop.

Use torrent on computer
Download any torrent application or software for you computer. you can search on google "torrent application for computer/mobile" according to operating system.
I am using uTorrent application you can also try this out.
Now open any website there is lots of torrent application like
Utorrent
Bit torrent
Both has their feature but in the end both work for the same task that is download the torrent files
I am not going to differentiate these applications but i like utorrent for both mobile and desktop system.

Once the torrent application is download in your system open or install this torrent application in your system. After successfully installed this utorrent application click on utorrent icon in desktop if it is there after installed , i.e open the utorrent application
You will see the interface of utorrent which will look like below image
Now you completed the first step to install the torrent application and the next step is how to download files
You may find on the internet that downloading torrent files is illegal and you will get in trouble. I do not know much about this but stealing someone's work is more like a stolen thing from someone and it will be crime.
But moreover this there is some benefit to share or download files using this torrent files, So let's take a dive into downloading files for torrent
Search google like file name torrent files , (sample torrent file) or movies name etc. Now open the website which provide torrent files. You need to find a torrent file links , this could be file or magnetic link
When you click on magnet link it automatically added torrent file to utorrent application
But if you find a torrent file like file.torrent then click on this file and it will be added to utorrent application

Use torrent on mobile
If you want to download torrent files on mobile then the steps are same
Open play store , search for utorrent application
Download and install the app
The further step for downloading a file is same like downloading file in computer
When you click on magnetic link it will automatically added to you mobile utorrent application
